DESIGN FOR MUSIC

Music and graphics to me always went hand-in-hand. Not only am I a musician additionally to a graphic designer, but I was also fascinated by the visual language of music, and I was lucky to get my career start in the music industry. I love how a simple idea and title can translate in so many ways if you apply it to rock, metal, pop or blues. Each style has its own visual vocabulary, with rules that you can choose to respect or break..

Mac n Spy Single Covers

Mac n Spy is a 60s garage/ surf rock band from France. The advantage of having an artwork for each title allowed the band to promote each song of their album in several posts. These artworks are also used on their Spotify and Bandcamp pages.

Video for "Run/Fight" for the band Mac 'n Spy. The song addresses topics like the civil rights movements, police brutality and race issues. Like in the Roadrunner video above, there was an issue with uneven footage dimensions and quality, which I approached by giving it a high contrast color grading that also matches the strong emotional mood of the song.

Screenshots from the Roadrunner video for the French band Stick Them Up! Having only uneven vintage footage as well as either low-res or shaky video available I chose to add this halftone pattern and strong color overlays to give it visual unity (halftones help mask low resolution images and footage)and a and match the hot-rod / B-Movie topic of the song.
